Overview :

I want to tell you more about the technologies behind google’s ranking. The core technology in google’s ranking system comes from the academic field of Information Retrieval (IR). The IR community has studied search for almost 50 years. It uses statistical signals of word salience, like word frequency, to rank pages. IR gave google a solid foundation, and google have built a tremendous system on top using links, page structure, and many other such innovations.

Understanding Web Pages:

Google has very distinct technology. Sometime we search a long keyword (about 6 or more words) but google gives the result in which some keywords are there though. Here google not only gives priority to pages but also look keywords very closely. It shows result on the basis importance of page and importance of keyword.

Understanding Queries and Keywords :

People sometime write in their own habit eg. u for you. But google’s technology understands this short cuts or sms language very easily and delivers only quality results. Sometime even user makes spelling mistakes in the names eg. crickte instead of cricket, but google find this mistake very easily and show in the header of results this message “Did you mean: cricket “. This ensures that no google user get unwanted or something that results for which he is not looking. With the spelling and grammar mistake google has widen its technological structure even to the synonyms. Some keywords though in spelling differs but means same. So, to ensure quality in results google even, counts though synonyms in the results.

Localization of Results :

Google’s one more important feature make their technology not better but best. People searching for “church” then google will not show results in the popularity of church but will show how local or near is that church. Search from Google India will show results in the priority of Indian Church rather then results fromGoogle World which shows results in the priority church throughout the world.

Results Basis on History of User :

Sometime you will find difference in results if you alternatively try search anything that you deal regularly while logined and log-out. E.g. If you are regular visitor of Digital Point (popularly DP) then your search will differ if you are login rather then non-login user. This is the most distinct feature of Google.
